Best Humidifiers For Indoor Plants & Grow Rooms: The Next Level Gardening

Last Updated: 15 June 2021

In recent years most of us tend to prefer living in big cities, rather than in the countryside. It’s true that it is way more convenient. In the city, you have supermarkets, 7/11 if you need something urgently in the middle of the night. You don't have to go everywhere by car and in general everything is within hand's reach, so to say. Well, we understand and agree, but we do have one objection when it comes to living in cities. While you can find everything your heart desires, it's becoming less common to see any kind of greenery around, would you agree? Sure, there are some parks or botanical gardens, but trees and plants are far less present than in the past.

That's why many people nowadays, and maybe you are one of them, tend to grow plants in their houses to bring in some color to their lives. Some are passionate and try to grow various plants, some of which require a lot of attention while others opt for cacti or something similar. Whatever kind of plant we chose, we tend to think of it as something that will improve home appearance or office not asking for a lot of care in return. But do you know that plants do much more than just providing visual beauty? Keeping house flowers is super healthy because they do exactly the opposite of what we do while breathing. They release oxygen and absorb carbon dioxide, which not only freshens up the air but releases harmful toxins.

Now when we established that we could move on a little bit. You know that people love their flowers as they are their babies. Many even talk to because they think herbs thrive better when you talk lovingly to them. If you are a person who likes to have indoor greenery and care about it, you are probably worried because every winter it becomes a bit lifeless. A reason for this is that heating additionally dries air and plants require humidity to be able to grow properly. Most of them need a humidity level of around 60% or more, while cacti and other dessert ones a bit less, around 40%. For most of the indoor flowers ideal humidity level is about 50- 60%

Fortunately, we can tell you that every problem has a solution, and in this case, it is pretty simple. What you need is to get one of those humidifiers for plants, and the problem is solved. We feel that it is crucial to point out that having one of these little machines is not only beneficial for the plants but also you in general and especially if you are struggling with allergies or any other kind of nasal congestion.

Ultrasonic or cool mist humidifiers are a good, cheaper option to moisturize the air in your home. If you have indoor green babies and care about them, you will surely think about getting a humidifier for plants. During the winter season, the air in our homes becomes drier than usual because of the heating. It is certainly not for flowers as they need around 40- 40% humidity level to develop properly, and in winter it gets way lower. So, yes, this machine is the best gift you can give to your house garden. And if you think it is an unnecessary investment, you should know that there are a lot of benefits too that humidifier brings.

It is difficult to determine whether these best humidifiers for plants are made for humans or plants. It seems like the answer is both, but people generally tend to focus on themselves more than anything else. So, what the best humidifier for plants is though, without needing one particular yourself. Then we can tell you that the best plant humidifiers are those that can run for a longer time and that comes in a simple design. It is important because you don’t have to refill all the time, and also it enables us to maintain it easily.

We can tell that in our experience it doesn’t matter at all whether your humidifier for plants produces a warm or cool mist.

Cool mist humidifiers are generally cheaper and easier to maintain. Also, they use less energy and run for more extended periods.

Warm mist humidifiers are a costly option and take more time to clean them. Nonetheless, one benefit is that they create mist through evaporation, which will result in purified water vapor.

There are several ways how to give humidity to your green friends if you notice they suffer. But of course, whether certain techniques will work depends on the area where you live and how dry is the air in your home.

One thing you can try which will add a bit of humidity is to mist the leaves with a little bit of filtered or distilled water. Now depending on how dry the air is and what kind of plant you have, you will have to do it several times per day.

The other option is a DIY humidifier for plants, we are talking about the pebble tray. It is quite easy to make: you just have to watch roots don’t float in water.

But of course, to get the best results you should get the best humidifier for plants.

Well, we kind of already discussed it. Even desert plants require certain levels of humidity to ensure proper growth. On average, our indoor garden friends need about a 60% level of humidity. Anything less than that will eventually make them wilted and kind of sad. Many people think that they are dead while in fact the only trick is to humidify the environment and they will be good as new.

Yes. This process is called transpiration. What happens is that plants absorb the water from the earth through their roots. Then they circulate this water more or less like we circulate the blood through the vascular system. When the water reaches the leaves, it evaporates, which results in humidity increase.

You can use a humidifier whenever you feel it is necessary depending on the dryness in your home or area where you live. However, as we already discussed, the air tends to be drier in the winter season. Therefore, for the better development of plants, it is best to use it in this period.

I use 3 humidifiers in winter (lot of plants) and realistic % about 35-40. Important things: to put only distilled water in your humidifiers, place makes a difference, a fan to might help (for circulating the air ), keep your eyes on the inside of your windows (good sign of how right you are doing)
